Honors 3

Requirements

  • Prerequisite:
    • Successful completion of Honors 1 and Honors 2.
    • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 from Wayne State University and a 3.5 GPA in NUR courses to begin Honors 3.
  • Must be completed in one of the following: NUR 4040, 4050 or 4120.
  • Must be completed in conjunction with a course that is at least three credits.
  • To fulfill the requirements for Honors 3, students will choose Option A, B or C below.

Assignments

Students must choose one of the three assignments below. Assignments are to be submitted to the course instructor by the date assigned. Assignments will be graded and cumulation of the grades will be used to determine the Honors grade. The grade earned in the Honors assignment does not affect the grade earned in the overall course curriculum.  

Students may be required to meet with the instructor to review the grading of each assignment.

The instructor and student will establish two meeting times during the semester. The time will be used to share/summarize findings from assignments.

Assignment may not be combined with any other coursework.

Option A:
Scholarly paper assignment

Fifteen to 20-page scholarly paper expanding on the literature search begun in Honors 2.

Honors 3 must demonstrate a high level of quality and reflect the accumulative work of the Honors program.

Option B:
Manuscript assignment

Draft of a manuscript to be submitted for publication on materials related to previous honors work.

Option C:
Presentation assignment

Presentation during a course lecture or at a conference or at the college's annual Contemporary Issues in Urban Health conference on the subject of interest. This must be accompanied with a paper describing the development of the project.
