Mary Anne McCoy, PhD, ACNS, ACNP-BC, FAANP
Bio Sketch
Dr. McCoy has been the graduate specialty coordinator for the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner program since 2008. She has spent over 45 years in nursing as a staff RN in an ICU, ICU manager, CNS/NP in cardiology, cardiac surgery, general surgery and neurosurgery. In addition to holding a full-time faculty position at WSU since 2006, she maintains a contingent position as an NP in neurosurgery and general surgery ICU at the Henry Ford Health-West Bloomfield facility. She has been active at a national level as the chair of the Acute Care Special Interest Group of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty (NONPF) and former treasurer, organizational management chair and president of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners (MICNP 2019-2020). Dr. McCoy was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) for her leadership in teaching and professional practice. In 2021 she was nominated and won the AANP State Award for Practice. Dr. McCoy continues to support a variety of DNP and PhD students in evidence-based practice improvement projects, policy analysis and program implementation and evaluation, while also supporting new nursing science and research initiatives while working with PhD students.
