Dr. Judith Fouladbakhsh Receives Notice of Award from NIH
Congratulations to Dr. Judi Fouladbakhsh and her research team. Dr. Fouladbakhsh and team just received a notice of award from the National Cancer Institute/NIH for their R15 research entitled A Pilot Study of Yoga for Breathing and Quality of Life of Lung Cancer Patients.
The overall objective of her current study is to examine the physiological and psychological effects of a standardized 12-week yoga intervention on breathing, stress, mood and sleep of Stage 1-111a non-small cell lung cancer patients in relationship to overall quality of life. Dr. Fouladbakhsh hypothesizes that participants receiving a 12-week standardized yoga intervention will have more breathing ability/ease during movement and at rest as noted by spirometry values, respiratory rate, dyspnea, oxygenation and breathing awareness, as well as less stress and improved sleep and quality of life compared to participants in a relaxation support group.
