Brian Ledl

2016 Jonas Veterans Healthcare Scholar

Currently a registered nurse at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, Brian is dedicated to providing compassionate care to veterans in the inpatient surgery unit. After earning his bachelor’s from WSU in 2006, followed by his B.S.N. in 2009,Brian began Wayne State’s doctor of nursing practice program in 2015 with a focus on adult gerontology primary care. He plans to use best evidence and research to better patient outcomes and lower costs at the VA hospital. Noting that both his father and grandfather are military veterans, Brian says, “I’m honored to get the Jonas Scholar award. It alleviates some financial stress and increases motivation. It embodies everything I’m interested in.” Congratulations to Brian for being named a 2016 Jonas Veterans Healthcare Scholar.

The prestigious award, funded by the Jonas Center for Nursing and Veterans Healthcare, was given for the academic and professional excellence he has achieved thus far and for the potential of his graduate studies to affect veterans and the nursing profession. The center is dedicated to improving veteran health through the Jonas Veterans Healthcare Scholar program and to developing outstanding nursing faculty and clinical leaders through the Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar program.
