Incoming undergraduate class celebrated with white coat ceremony
Incoming Wayne State University bachelor of science in nursing students recently participated in the College of Nursing’s second annual white coat ceremony. The August 29 event was held at St. Andrew’s Hall on Wayne State’s main campus. The ceremony served to welcome and initiate B.S.N. students both to the college and the nursing profession and to emphasize humanistic and compassionate care.
Following remarks by Dr. Katherine Zimnicki, B.S.N. Program Director, and Dean Laurie M. Lauzon Clabo, students were invited to the stage and cloaked with an embroidered white lab coat by members of the faculty. The students then recited an oath dedicating themselves to the provision of person-centered, compassionate care. The ceremony was followed by a reception for students and invited guests.
