About us
The College of Nursing is an integral part of Wayne State University, a research institution classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as RU/VH, a "Research University (Very High research activity)," a distinction held by only 2.4 percent of U.S. institutions of higher education. Both the college and university share an urban research, teaching and service mission. Nearly 800 students, faculty and staff make up the College of Nursing, led by:

The college is internationally recognized for excellence in preparing graduate and undergraduate students to become nurse leaders, scholars and researchers. We also are known for the high quality of our research, especially in the areas of self-care, caregiving and urban health. Faculty research is enhanced by opportunities for collaborative investigations at such facilities as the Detroit Medical Center, William Beaumont Hospital, the Henry Ford Health System, community health centers and the Wayne State University School of Medicine.
